BUG, operated by Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisayuki Idekoba) is pleased to present “Summer Studio”, a program centered around workshops.

Launched last summer at BUG, “Summer Studio” will return this year with workshops led by artists and creators, targeting elementary, middle, and high school students. Through “Summer Studio,” we aim to create a space where creativity and sensitivity intersect, welcoming unknown possibilities and sharing the joy of expression with everyone.

During the event, masking tape art posters created by high school students will be exhibited. Additionally, workshops led by nine instructors, and a tin badge making corner where visitors of all ages can easily participate, and various other interactive events will be held. Let your mind and hands roam free and enjoy a summertime experience filled with the joy of creation.

About the Exhibition and Workshop

1. Exhibition of “Masking Tape Art Posters” Created by 24 Middle and High School Students

Prior to the exhibition, a three-day special program (July 6th, 12th, and 13th) was held for middle and high school students. This program aimed to provide middle and high school students who are considering their future career paths with an opportunity to interact with artists and creators, experience diverse options and values, and nurture a sense of appreciation for “what they love.”

Led by art director and graphic designer Koji Iyama, participants created original large-scale posters by using masking tape to recreate famous paintings.  Participants observed the characteristics of famous paintings from their own perspectives, freely rearranging colors and compositions. They explored their unique expressions while making the most of the texture of masking tapes. We hope you enjoy the outstanding works created through the free and rich imagination of middle and high school students.

2. 30 Diverse Workshops Led by 9 Instructors

During the exhibition period, various workshops will be held every week. 9 artists/creators will serve as instructors, covering fields such as graphic design, art, architecture, ceramics, and crafts. Participants of all ages, from elementary school students to adults, are welcome to join (advance registration required).

In each workshop, instructors will directly lecture to the participants. The content will not only cover techniques but also touch on attitudes and approaches toward expression. These workshops are also recommended for summer vacation experiences or research projects. Why not join us at BUG to explore the joy of creating together?

3. A Space to See, Create, and Enjoy

In addition to masking tape art posters, reference works by instructors and numerous works created during the workshop will be added throughout the exhibition period. There will also be a permanent corner where you can easily create your own original masking tape tin badges. Come experience the ever-evolving “Summer Studio” space and discover something new each time you visit.
